In Search of the Northern Lights – Reindeer Sleigh Ride Under the Arctic Sky
Taava Reindeer Farm
Operated by Santa Claus Reindeer
Experience a peaceful reindeer sleigh ride beneath the Arctic sky, with a chance to witness the Northern Lights. Meet the reindeer at Taava Reindeer Farm and enjoy Finnish treats by a cosy fire.
Travel through snowy forests in a traditional reindeer-drawn sleigh at the family-run Taava Reindeer Farm. Wrapped in warm reindeer hides, glide silently beneath the Arctic sky, far from city lights and modern distractions.
The approximately 1.5 km sleigh ride takes about 25 minutes, at the reindeer's calm, natural pace. On clear nights, the moon and stars may be visible above the trees, and sometimes the Northern Lights appear too. Aurora sightings depend on weather and solar activity and cannot be guaranteed.
After the ride, meet and feed the reindeer and hear about reindeer herding from local guides. Warm up in Taava's atmospheric log kota with Karelian pie, gingerbread cookies and non-alcoholic glögi by an open fire. The included transfer returns you to your selected drop-off point in Rovaniemi.
